Dear Second Chance Support Network Community, As we embark on this new month, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who has been an integral part of our journey. It is your unwavering support that has enabled us to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those seeking a second chance in Livingston County and the surrounding areas. The past few years have been a time of profound change, learning, and growth for our organization. We have faced challenges head-on and embraced the opportunities that came our way. Through it all, we have remained committed to our mission of providing support, empowerment, and opportunities to individuals looking to rebuild their lives. We are thrilled to share some exciting updates with you. First and foremost, we are pleased to welcome five remarkable individuals to our Board of Directors. Their diverse expertise, passion, and dedication will undoubtedly propel our organization to new heights. Together, we will forge ahead and shape the future of Second Chance Support Network. In addition to bolstering our leadership team, we have also undergone a rebranding process and launched a brand-new website. This revitalized online presence better reflect our values, highlight the impactful work we do, and facilitate greater engagement within our community. We encourage you to explore our new digital home and share your thoughts with us. As we look to the months ahead, we have some major news on the horizon that we cannot wait to share with you. Our newly appointed Board of Directors is brimming with enthusiasm and optimism about the direction we are heading. Their fresh perspectives and strategic vision will pave our way forward. We are delighted to announce that our July newsletter is now available, packed with exciting updates on what we have been up to. We encourage you to dive in and discover the positive changes you have helped us achieve. Once again, we extend our heartfelt thanks to our generous donors, dedicated volunteers, partnering companies, and supportive organizations. Without your continued belief in our mission, none of this would be possible. Together, we are making a difference and offering individuals a second chance at a brighter future.


BOARD OF DIRECTORS SPOTLIGHT


Carolyn Henry joined the Second Chance Support Network and a member of our Board of Directors in February of 2023.


Carolyn currently serves as the Chief Assistant Prosecutor for the

Livingston County Prosecutor’s Office. Prior to her appointment to the

Prosecutor’s Office, she served as a general practice attorney for approximately 22

years practicing primarily in criminal law. She was a former law clerk to the

Honorable A. John Pikkarainen, 53 rd District Court Judge and paralegal for the

Heikkinen Law Firm.

Carolyn has served as an elected Board Member to the Howell Township Board,

chairperson to the Howell Township Planning Commission and served as a

member of the Howell Township Zoning Board of Appeals. Additionally, Carolyn

volunteered many hours of service to the Howell Public Schools as a member of

the Challenger Elementary School Improvement team as well as volunteering in

the classrooms. She is also a member of the Sunrise Rotary.

Carolyn received her law degree from Thomas Cooley Law School, undergraduate

degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan and associate

degree in Paralegal studies from Ferris University. She is a lifelong resident of

Livingston County.

We are excited to announce a series of upcoming events where you can contribute to our cause and help us further our mission. Whether it's support our raffle, our Autumn Nights charity dinner, or new headline event — The Kentucky Derby Viewing Party, these events provide fantastic opportunities for you to get involved and show your support. Your participation, whether as a volunteer or a donor, makes a tangible difference and allows us to continue providing essential services to those in need. We deeply appreciate your unwavering dedication and belief in our cause. Together, let us create a brighter future for individuals seeking a second chance.


Autumn Nights 2023 Charity Dinner



Autumn Nights is the theme for our 2023 Charity Dinner hosted by the Second Chance Support Network on Thursday, October 26, 2023 starting at 5:00 pm. This fun filled, relaxed, event is a great way to spend the night with your friends and support a local charity.

Tickets will go on sale soon and we expect this event to sell out, so make sure to head on over to your calendar and save the date today!



Save the Date: Kentucky Derby Party



Mark your calendars and get ready to don your finest hats and bowties! We are thrilled to announce the date for our highly anticipated annual headline fundraiser, the Kentucky Derby Party. Join us on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, as we gather together to celebrate the "Run for the Roses" in style. Stay tuned for more details and prepare for an unforgettable evening of horse racing, entertainment, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of those seeking a second chance. Save the date and get ready for an event you won't want to miss!


SCSN RESALE STORE



As we said in our opening, Second Chance Support Network is making major changes and we are extremely excited about the direction our organization is going. Our Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers have a vision that all returning citizens receive the tools and support they need to be contributing members of society. To ensure our organization can focus on and grow our ministry, we have made the decision to close our resale store as of October 1, 2023. We encourage you to watch our store’s social media account for upcoming sales and specials!
